2009 AMA's Performances

Eminem - Crack A Bottle/Forever (feat. 50 Cent)

Jay-Z & Alicia Keys - Empire State Of Mind

Lady GaGa - Bad Romance/Speechless

Rihanna - Wait Is Ova/Hard

Mary J. Blige - I Am

Alicia Keys - Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart

Jennifer Lopez - Louboutins

Whitney Houston - I Didn't Know My Own Strength

Black Eyed Peas - Meet Me Halfway/Boom Boom Pow

Janet Jackson - Medley

Shakira - Give It Up To Me

Kelly Clarkson - Already Gone

Timbaland - Morning After Dark (feat. Nelly Furtado & Soshy)

Alicia Keys sounded awful on Empire State Of Mind. Rihanna proved one more time that she ain't got no stage present and voice. Lady GaGa was great, even J.Lo had a nice concept and she did good to get up after her fall. Shakira's amount of dancers was impressive.

Beyoncé Makes History

Congratulations to Columbia’s Mike, Ayelet, B-Nolan and James who debut Beyonce’s “Sweet Dreams at #32, +275 marking the first time a female artist has had six singles from one album chart at the Rhythm format since 1993. Janet Jackson was the only other one to do so. WOW!

That's great! Congrats Bee!

Watch the VMA Performances!

Personally I thought the tribute wasn't all that. But I won't be too hard on Janet cause it can't be easy for her.

As previously announced GaGa planned to do a rather calm performance and I liked it.

Beyoncé started off VERY great. You gotta love it. "Single Ladies" was great too although I kinda thought it was slightly too long. I would have wished for a longer "Sweet Dreams" part but it's understandable why she did it that way.

Jay-Z and Alicia Keys did a great job here. The song is absolutely great and so I enjoyed the performance as well.
BUT WTF @ Lil Mama seeking for attention. Lame.

Janet Jackson NOT to Perform at MOBOs

Following recent reports in the press, MOBO would like to clarify that we have never confirmed that Janet Jackson has been invited or will be attending/performing at this year’s MOBO Awards, in Glasgow on September 30th.

As was reported, we will always welcome her at our show and as a previous MOBO presenter, we loved her past involvement and will continue to support her music and champion her career. Yet, at this stage we cannot comment on Janet Jackson's association with the 2009 MOBO Awards. However, there are lots of exciting things going on currently and we look forward to announcing them shortly!

We, as ever, appreciate your ongoing interest in the show – please keep coming back to mobo.com for future developments!

Many thanks,

MOBO

It's great how it seems to be a new trend to say someone performs there and then and one day after that you get the message NOPE, not true.

Janet Jackson to Pay Tribute to MJ

JANET JACKSON is being lined up for an appearance at the MOBO awards in Glasgow next month - her first UK date since the death of her brother.

Organisers are inviting the singer as part of a tribute to Michael at the SECC ceremony on September 30.

A spokesman for the awards said: "Janet is a music icon in her own right and a previous MOBO presenter.

"We loved her past involvement with the show and MOBO will continue to support her music and champion her career."

The star, last seen in public comforting Michael's sobbing daughter Paris at his memorial service last month, is expected to fly in from Los Angeles for the show.

The event, taking place outside London for the first time, is likely to feature individual tributes to Jacko from other artists.

A spokesman said: "Michael Jackson was a key catalyst and influence on the culture, lifestyle and music that MOBO supports and represents.

"His sound, style and dance moves have inspired subsequent generations of pop, soul, R& B and hip-hop artists.

"Artists such as Usher, Ne-Yo and Justin Timberlake often cite Michael Jackson as their inspiration and it is key that we commemorate his life, achievements and legacy.

"His appeal was universal. People of all nations, cultures and ages have enjoyed - and continue to enjoy - his music. He broke many barriers during the course of his musical career and has left a legacy that changed the landscape of the music industry forever.

"Despite his troubles, Michael always found purpose in his music and it gave him greater passion in his performance.

"He was a born entertainer, a consummate showman and always put 110 per cent into his performances, regardless of any issues he was having in his private life.

"He enabled the urban artists who follow in his footsteps to be successful on a mainstream level - artists MOBO continues to showcase and champion year after year.

"As such, it is absolutely fitting that he is remembered at our show."

Organisers are keen to stress that their tributes will have a positive, celebratory tone, rather than putting a dampener on the proceedings.

The spokesman added: "We hope it will be an opportunity to celebrate his legacy and show that his music lives on not only in the heart of his millions of fans worldwide but also in his music and in the music of his contemporaries."
