I love "I Like" but she sucks live.

iWontSTFU’s Top 15 Albums of 2009

I’m going to present my favorite albums of 2009. I considered only album which release dates were in 2009.

#1

MARIAH CAREY – MEMOIRS OF AN IMPERFECT ANGEL

Cover

Mariah came back with an incredible album. I listened to it like crazy. She was able to give her fans a bit of all her sides: Old Mariah, hip-hop Mariah, pop Mariah. Unfortunately the album wasn’t as succesful as it deserves to be in my opinion. But in the end it’s whatever to me because hey I got an album that I can jam to for years.

#2

THE FAME MONSTER

famemonster

Initially meant to be a re-.release Lady Gaga declared “The Fame Monster” to be a normal album with only eight tracks. However, all of the eight song are sick. There’s no weak song on the album. Definitely a superb album.

#3

SHAKIRA – SHE WOLF

shakira-she-wolf-cover-album-11096

After a few years of absence Shakira returned with her third English album. Taking a more electro-pop route she surprised many fans but she also managed to convince them and many critics including me. Although it’s not her usual genre you still know it’s typical Shakira. Thumbs up!

#4

ROBIN THICKE – SEX THERAPY

robin_thicke_sex_therapy_cover

Although Robin Thicke’s latest work was just released it already ranks that high. Why? Well, maybe because this album is just great? Yes, it is. I got to admit that it is a grower but once you take your time listening you will love it. Plus, it’s always a pleasure to hear Robin’s voice.

#5

JAY-Z – THE BLUEPRINT III

Blueprint_3

It seems like Sean “Jay-Z” Carter just needs to name his album “Blueprint” and it will be a good album. Even though he has featured guest on every track it’s still a great Jay-Z album. Especially “Empire State Of Mind”, “Venus vs Mars” and “On To The Next One” rock.

#6

ALICIA KEYS – THE ELEMENT OF FREEDOM

aliciakeyysfreedom

The follower of Alicia Keys’ highly successful album “As I Am” didn’t blew me away immediately but still it’s a good album. It’s funny though because my favorite songs are mainly the ones that are bonus tracks. Weird, huh?

#7

THE BLACK EYED PEAS – THE E.N.D.

the_end_cover

The Black Eyed Peas killed it with this album. I always liked them but with this album they really got me. I want to mention though that without my girl Fergie they would be nothing special.

#8

MELANIE FIONA – THE BRIDGE

Melaniefiona-thebridge

If you are a regular visitor of this blog you have already heard of my love for Miss Melanie Fiona. She’s so talented and such a lovely person that she doesn’t deserve anything but success. I wish more people will recognize and appreciate true singers instead of hyping up little idiots.

#9

LETOYA – LADY LOVE

Letoya-lady-love

LeToya’s second solo album was definitely a step-up in comparison to her debut album. Thanks to a shitty label aka Atlantic Records “Lady Love” wasn’t as promoted as it should have been because it’s totally one of the best R&B albums of 2009.

#10

WHITNEY HOUSTON – I LOOK TO YOU

I_Look_to_You_Whitney

Whitney Houston’s comeback album is also one of my favorites. She produced an album that fits her age and the current popular sound. My favorite songs are “Million Dollar Bill” which was written by Alicia Keys and produced by her boo Swizz Beatz and “Salute” which was penned by R.Kelly.

#11

AMERIE – IN LOVE & WAR

AmerieLoveAndWar

Amerie has never been a great album seller in the past years but this won’t prevent me from liking this album. Even though her strained voice can get on ones nerves every now and then, I appreciate her diffenrent sound.

#12

KERI HILSON – IN A PERFECT WORLD

  Keri_Hilson_-_In_a_Perfect_World

I can’t stand Keri Hilson’s cocky ass (since her appearances on Shock Value) but I would lie if I don’t call this album a solid one. My favorite song is “Aliented”.

#13

COLBIE CAILLAT – BREAKTHROUGH

Colbiecaillat-breakthrough

I adored her debut album “Coco” so it was a must do to listen to her second album, especially since “Fallin For You” is such a cute song. Good album overall.

#14

MARY J BLIGE – STRONGER WITH EACH TEAR

41bn5GSyByL._SS500_

I like this album much better than “Growing Pains”. “I Am” is a great track and so is her collaboration with Drake.

#15

TERIYAKI BOYZ – SERIOUS JAPENESE

Serious_Japanese

I don’t know how many of you guys have heard about the Teriyaki Boyz, a Japanese hip-hop group. Working with the Neptunes and Kanye West was definitely a good move. A refreshing hip-hop album with a different style. Love it.

So that’s it! Tell me which albums you liked the best in 2009 by commenting.

Miscarried Baby Calls Out Beyoncé Stans

Well, she still don't know that she should just keep her mouth shut? You know she's now about be to be insulted like crazy haha.
Besides, I find it funny how celebs do rant on their twitter and later they'll realize that it wasn't the best idea and delete the tweet. Never heard of screenshot, huh?

Keri Hilson performs Energy on GMTV

I think the other chick's voice didn't really match to Keri's. It was a lil awkward.

Keri Hilson - Slow Dance (Jimmy Fallon Live)

The "I Got Something To Show Ya" line made me giggle because she basically showed everything already.

Keri Hilson Interview on Today Show

It's quite funny seeing Keri on the Today Show as they sorta dissed her when Neyo visited them but here she is:

I didn't know about the Kanye thing. That explains why there were 2 different versions.

R. Kelly featuring Keri Hilson Performs "Number One" on Jimmy Kimmel

R. Kelly sounded good, Keri was ok, I've seen her doing worse. The motor bike was silly though.

I actually like the video. Not sure about the wardrobe used but oh well.

Sean Paul feat. Keri Hilson - Hold My Hand

I liked the song until Keri started singing. She sounds a mess on this.

Keri Hilson Dissed by Today Show

When talking about "Knock You Down" the host of the today show did something I wouldn't have expected.

7 Pop Stars Who Can't Sing

I came across this article by Starpulse and thought it'd be worth posting it here.

Keri Hilson

Her ridiculous tribute to Michael Jackson at the BET Awards in June sealed the deal - the girl can't sing a lick. Fortunately, the King of Pop was not there to see the painfully corny, out of breath, and off-key "tribute" to his genius. (She chanted "Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson" in the middle of "Knock You Down" and did not dance but struck random poses instead.) Keri Hilson was a behind-the-scenes type artist before the release of In a Perfect World..., writing songs for the likes of Britney Spears and Ciara. In a Perfect World, Ms. Hilson would have kept it that way.

Kanye West

Kanye, Kanye, Kanye. His most recent album brought tears to the eyes of many. What we hoped would be an emotional and insightful reflection on his life, his dealing with the death of his mother was instead a whiny, sickeningly emo lamentation over his breakup with Alexis Pheifer. It should have been awesome, it was instead pathetic. Even with the help of autotune, it was still clear that underneath the vocal manipulations, Kanye did not sing one single not on key. Our boy should stick to rapping and realize that he can't do everything well!

Cassie

The mystery of whether Cassie could actually sing or not was quickly put to bed with an embarrassingly dreadful performance of "Me & You" on "106 and Park." Since then, we have seen almost one of her on the charts, save for her thankfully small contribution on Ryan Leslie's "Addiction" last year. Her lack of talent is enough to make anyone suspicious on how she even got a record deal. It might have something to do with the fact that >Diddy was, well, Diddying her if you catch our drift!

Ciara

It is extremely fortunate that she can dance, because Ciara only sings a few notes per song. Just listen to her music. On Her very first hit, "Goodies," she sings exactly one note for most of the track. How is that possible? There is little else to say. You have to hear it for yourself.

Britney Spears

Ms. Spears is an obvious choice, being notorious for her lip-synching. Her voice is tweaked by so many computers, it is doubtful that we have ever heard what she truly sounds like. Her singing is a combination of moaning and whispering, instead of actual note hitting. But damn can this girl entertain. Her tunes are catchy and she knows how to put on a show. Though it would be nice to have a pop superstar who can sing as well as she can perform, America has accepted Britney as its favorite popstar. In the end, it really doesn't matter if she can carry a tune or not.

Madonna

Madge is another one of America's favorite popstars. She's been around for so long, but certainly not because we adore the sound of her voice. The girl could never sing. She squeaked and shrieked through her hits like "Borderline" in the 80s, and today, she can barely even whisper a tune. Justin Timberlake stole her shine in the 2008 hit "4 Minutes." Madonna's wavering voice was barely there, so much that it sounded like she was reciting bad spoken word instead of singing. In her recent single, "Celebration," she just sounds tired. Her voice is weak. Perhaps if she spent less time pumping iron, and more time strengthening her voice, she wouldn't sound as weak and wishy-washy as she does on her tracks today.

Rihanna

Rihanna is another popstar who is just a pretty face. The way she stomps around the stage makes one hope that she can at least make up for her lack of stage presence with a powerhouse voice. But alas, when she sings it sounds as if someone is holding her nose as she tries to make her ears pop.

Great and particularly true list. Whoever took the time to write this article is right.

When it comes to Rihanna's example I would have posted the incredible Hero performance she once did.

Oh, and I liked "808s and Heartbreak" a lot!

Keri Hilson Performing "Knock You Down"

After posting her cover of "Crazy" you can watch below her performance of "Knock You Down".

Boring. Keri Hilsons needs to step up her game before she bashes other female singers who know how to work the stage.

Keri Hilson performing "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley

Probably the best Keri Hilson performance I've seen. But I don't want to forget that normally most people sound good on those sessions. Anyway, good job, Keri. I expected worse.
